TerWorm has been home to many noble families since the 14th century, but none more prominent than governors, knights, counts and barons of long ago. Count Vincent van der Heyden-Belderbusch (1690-1771) was such a governor from the 18th century. He renovated the castle, laying the garden in French Rococo style. The then white castle was the centrepiece of a 1500-ha estate with nine farmhouses. In late 19th century, Baron François de Loë (1857-1938) gave the castle the appearance it has today. TerWorm has gone through six prominent architectural periods. The bottle with text was found during the renovation in 1997. Baron de Loë had written the text a century earlier.
